I participated in 3 events held for AAC at various universities and schools and really enjoyed it a lot because AAC really helped me to communicate with other students of my age group at schools and universities level! The AAC system which I used for communication is known as type and touch screen system as soon as I used to type or touch the words written on the computer screen the computer automatically pronounces the words and say it in voice output so the person or students who are trying to communicate with me can easily understand what I’m trying to say or asking them! I used AAC system at Manipal University, HCT and at English School located in Jumeirah.
The way in which I interacted with the visitors at Manipal University and HCT is by using type and touch screen computer system, as soon as I used to type or touch the worlds written on the computer screen the computer used to pronounces the words and say it in voice output so other students used to understand easily what I’m trying to tell them or ask them so it made really ease for the students as well as for me to communicate easily with each other by using type and touch screen computer system!
The visitors felt really comfortable while talking to me by using type and touch screen computer AAC system, they did not hesitate to ask me any question or communicate with me while I’m using type and touch screen computer AAC system to answer their questions! They seem to be happy talking to me and enjoying conversation with me.
I felt brilliant by using type and touch screen computer AAC system, it really helped me a great deal to communicate with strangers with ease and without facing any difficulty since my speech is not too clear! I easily communicated with the students and really enjoyed conversation with them! It also put good impression on other students and strangers by making them realize that I’m mentally perfectly normal person just like them and quite educated as well! So in one word I think type and touch screen computer AAC system is an excellent system for those who are unable to speak and communicate and for those whose speech is not 100% clear!
